There are high expectations when visiting a Michelin restaurant. We chose Menu Certitude with wine pairing. La Balette has very nice surroundings and the menu was excellent - the wines too. Service slowed down a bit this evening. The wine came after the dishes and there were 4-5 waiters who were not quite coordinated. Hope this improves. We were asked if we wanted some cheese before dessert. It was not specified that it cost 14 EUR extra. It is important that waiters explain precisely.
Overall a pleasant experience. But compared to other Michelin starred restaurants I’ve been to the food was unfortunately not as well executed. Flavors was not very well balanced throughout. Great wine and really good service. Enjoyed the evening though I expected more from the food.
6th visit here and it never fails to impress. COVID scuppered our yearly trip so its been a while since our last visit. The menu has changed... now you get to pick how many courses you want and then tell the chef what you don't like and end up with a bespoke tasting menu. Not often you get such freedom to communicate your preferences. Always been impressed with the chef and today's lunch was no different. Simply outstanding and great mix of flavours. Love coming here and today's visit has not changed that opinion! Excellent staff, plates, and food. Well done
Wonderful lunch with delicious food and attentive service, a real special occasion venue. We loved everything from the service, to the presentation and the explanation of each dish. We will be back for a next anniversary celebration.
As one would expect of a Michelin star restaurant, the food and service were exemplary. The wine list featured a wide variety of top local wines and those from elsewhere in France. The only thing that detracted from our experience was the placement of our table right in the path from the kitchen. We did inquire about moving but were told it wasn't possible. Every server bringing in a plate to each table (8 to 12 courses at each table) walked directly behind our table; it became very distracting. We did mention it to a staff member and the situation improved a bit, but still left us a bit disappointed in our evening.
Great view on Collioure port, very nice service. The food was good, but not as at the level I expected from the Michelin restaurant. However, I really appreciated a choice of regional wines. Conclusion - a bit expensive for what it is.
Not much to add to the many accurate and enthusiastic reviews. The Michelin star is fully warranted -- even the entry-level 8-course menu is a revelation. Staff is attentive without becoming overbearing and the setting overlooking Collioure is second to none. This was our third time eating here, the first time with children and their partners, and everyone at our table took home memories that will last for years. Thanks to everyone at La Balette!
Fantastic location. Entire staff excellent. Enjoyed wonderful tasting menu. Special mention to the chef for the manner in which he catered for one of us who does not eat fish.
